Occlusal Splints for TMJ

Hand holding an oral appliance

For patients who experience chronic jaw pain and headaches due to TMJ issues, the relief they need can often be found in the form of a custom-made oral appliance called an occlusal splint. Worn only to bed, this device fits over the teeth and gently shifts the lower jaw forward to take the pressure off of tense muscles and overstimulated nerves. Over time, the jaw will adapt to this new position, allowing a patient to experience long-term relief and improved function.

Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry

If just the thought of going to the dentist is enough to make you nervous, then oral conscious sedation may be perfect for you. Your dentist will prescribe you a pill to take at home the day of your appointment, and by the time you actually sit in our treatment chair, you’ll already be deeply relaxed from head to toe. Most patients are able to stay awake and respond to basic commands, but many end up falling asleep during their visit! This approach is perfect for anxious patients as well as those who need more extensive procedures.

Intraoral Camera

Dentist capturing images of patient's smile

One of the biggest and most basic challenges in all of dentistry is simply getting a good look inside of a person’s mouth. Even when you use a light and handheld mirror, there are still portions of the oral cavity that are difficult to see, which means issues like cavities and gum disease may go undetected until they worsen. With our intraoral camera, however, we’re able to capture high-resolution images of the entire mouth and display them on a monitor in the treatment room. Not only does this make it easier for our team to examine a patient, but people now get to see their mouth from their dentist’s perspective, helping them better understand their oral health and needs.

Digital X-Rays

We use X-rays every single day in our dental office, so if anyone is going to be concerned about radiation, it’s us! Thankfully, digital X-rays emit 90% LESS radiation compared to traditional film, and that’s just one of their many benefits. The images they capture show much more detail, they only take seconds to develop, and they can be instantly stored, sent, and copied as necessary, making insurance claims and referrals easy for a patient.

Digital Impression System

Digital impressions on computer monitor

We have completely digitized the impression taking process, which means patients no longer have to spend minutes at a time biting down into odd-tasting dental putty just to create a mold of their teeth! Now, we use a small scanner that fits comfortably in the mouth to quickly capture dozens of images of a patient’s teeth and bite. On a nearby monitor, these images are put together by sophisticated software to generate an extremely accurate digital impression the first time, every time.

Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry

Our soft tissue laser enables our team to treat advanced gum disease in the most effective and least-invasive way possible. The light emitted by the laser is able to quickly kill bacteria underneath the gum line without actually harming the gum tissue itself. We can even use it to provide beautifying gum lifts to help patients who don’t like their “gummy” smiles, making their teeth appear longer by painlessly removing any excess tissue.

Comfort-In™ Needle-Free Dentistry

The Comfort-in needle free local anesthetic system

Did you know that over 20% of people struggle with a fear of needles? That’s why our team is proud to now use the Comfort-In™? needle-free injection system when administering anesthesia to patients undergoing treatment. This technology is spring-operated and uses high pressure to inject anesthesia beneath the skin instead of a traditional needle. It’s safe for all ages, including children, and allows our patients to feel genuinely relaxed in the treatment chair.
